CNCS Contract Awarded to DMT

September 2011 - Dare Mighty Things, Inc. (DMT) was awarded a one year plus one option year contract with the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS), Office of Strategy and Special Initiatives. DMT and teaming partner the TCC Group, Inc. will perform a multi-dimensional assessment of the CNCS performance measurement pilot program. The pilot program is an important part of CNCS’ 2010-2015 strategic plan, which seeks to measure the results of service, hold grantees accountable for their performance, and inform the American public on the results of efforts to meet community and human needs. The purpose of the assessment is to understand how AmeriCorps State and National (ACSN) grantees and state commissions are adopting and implementing national performance measures.

CNCS plays a critical role in strengthening America’s nonprofit sector and addressing the nation’s challenges through service. The Corporation leads President Obama’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve and engages more than five million Americans in service through its core programs, Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America. The enabling legislation behind the Corporation places emphasis on CNCS measuring the results of service, holding grantees accountable for their performance, and regularly reporting back to the American public and Congress on the results of efforts to meet significant community and human needs through service.

The DMT-TCC team provides sector-leading capabilities in all aspects of the required performance measurement work: measuring impact of capacity building of grassroots organizations through intermediaries; Federal performance measurement and information management requirements; nonprofit organizational development; public/private partnership; systems evaluation; and grants portfolio performance assessment. The Corporation will use the results of DMT’s assessment to inform the ongoing adoption of national grantee measures for ACSN and pilot efforts within other CNCS programs, resulting in increased accountability and transparency.
