At the end of September, the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) awarded $21 million in grants to not for profit mentoring organizations. These grants are administered by OJP’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). Dare Mighty Things is proud to continue our support to Amachi under an OJJDP Multi-State Mentoring Award. Beginning in just four areas of Philadelphia, Amachi, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. W. Wilson Goode, Sr., exhibited such success that soon thereafter the mentoring program for children of incarcerated parents was replicated nationwide.  Amachi has grown into a multi-state organization with national impact. Building on a relationship that started with the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Mentoring Children of Prisoners Program in the mid 2000s, DMT will contribute to Amachi program enhancements with online application of micro-learning for program staff and mentors.
